Oregon Trip & Fuel Permits

When commercial vehicles operate in Oregon without International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) credentials, a Trip Fuel Permit is required for each entry. These permits allow out-of-state carriers to legally use Oregon highways and pay fuel taxes on a per-trip basis.

You Need This Permit If:

The vehicle’s gross weight is over 26,000 pounds and\or has 3 or more axles.
Your vehicle does not have registration.
Your plate isnt apportioned, so you dont have cab card.

PLEASE NOTE, THE PERMIT IS VALID FOR 10 DAYS ONLY.

YOU WILL NEED TO CARRY THE WEIGHT MILE PERMIT AS WELL, IF GVW IS OVER 26000 POUNDS.


To obtain an online trip/fuel permit, you'll need to have the following information:

USDOT,  MC or your Oregon Account Number ( one of these ),
Company information (Legal Business name, email address and phone number) – you  can also provide driver’s email and phone number,
Driver(s) name(s),
Truck information (license plate number, full VIN number, truck unit number etc.),
Load description ( what are you hauling? ), general information will work as well, such as general freight, freight of all kinds etc.,
The route, that you are going to take to enter or exit Oregon, the stops for picks up or drops off (names of cities or zip codes).
